Positive Social Effects


Linkedin

LinkedIn is a surprisingly useful social media platform as it connects people through businesses and companies. Positive effects for this platform include the fact that it works worldwide supporting nearly 30 languages.

Twitter

Positive effects include the users ability to stay up to date with the people they are interested in. They can follow a broad range of entertainment accounts and news accounts from around the world. This effect keeps users connected with the problems of the world, and allows them to interact with anyone through the use of Twitter's messaging system.

Facebook

Positive social effects on Facebook involve users being able to connect with each other around the world, including families and friends that they can keep in contact with regardless of their location. Also, Facebook has been receiving regular updates and now includes trending topics that users can view whenever they wish.

Negative Social Effects


YouTube

YouTube is a social media platform that allows it's users to share videos on their own channels. A negative social effect for YouTube is cyber bullying. Users can receive threatening comments on a regular basis.

Snapchat

Snapchat is a mobile social media app that allows users to send annotated photos to friends with a short viewing window. Unfortunately users receiving images can take screenshots via their phone. This could be used as a form of cyber bullying to threaten and or intimidate users.


Instagram

Instagram is a social media site that provides it's users with the ability to share images on a desktop and phone app. Unfortunately teenagers have become addicted with Instagram as become obsessed with uploading photo's on a regular basis for their followers.
